Established in 2013 by the Bakırköy Municipality to hold opera productions and concerts, the Leyla Gencer Opera and Art Center has a full program with various events and stage performances in December, such as Turkish pianist İdil Biret who will perform a piano recital for classical music lovers on Dec. 3. Biret's career started with the concert she gave in honor of İsmet İnönü, a former president of the Republic of Turkey. With a special law that entered into force just for her, she found herself in Paris, a foreign city that she had no familiarity with and enrolled in one of the toughest musical education programs. Biret is dedicating her Dec. 3 concert in the memory of the Leyla Gencer Opera and Art Center's late general art director, Arda Aydoğan, who died in November. Biret will solely play the compositions of Chopin during her concert, and will honor the memory of Aydoğan with her piano. Biret will perform Chopin's "Andante Spianato et Grande Polonaise Brillante in E-flat Major, Op. 22," "Sonat No. 3, Op. 58," "Allegro," "Scherzo," "Largo," "Finale" and "Chopin 4 Ballad."
