Antik A.Ş., a leading auction house in Istanbul, will present a collection of contemporary Turkish artwork dating from the 1950s to the present on Nov. 7. Among the highlighted items of the collection is Bedri Rahmi Eyüpoğlu's famous paintings "Çiftçi Ailesi" (The Farmer's Family). Decorated with mosaic patterns and colors reflecting Anatolia, the painting features a farmer's family including parents with a baby. The painting was released to the public for the first time through Time magazine in 1953. It will be put up for auction with an opening price of TL 250,000 ($86,192). Five work of Erol Akyavaş, four works of Burhan Doğançay's "Kurdeleler" (Ribbon) series, Ferruh Başağa's work after the 1980s and the work of Orhan Peker will also be auctioned. Additionally, the late artist Fahrelnissa Zeid's work "Portreler" (Portraits) will be auctioned for TL 200,000. Fikret Mualla's "Sokak" (Street) and four paintings of Adnan Çoker from different periods will be introduced at the auction. Olgaç Artam, the chairman of the upcoming auction, said in a press statement that the items in the collection were carefully chosen. The auction will also feature the work of other artists including Burhan Doğançay, Abidin Elderoğlu, Abidin Dino, Ömer Uluç and Mehmet Güleryüz. Aside from Turkish artists, the auction will also present works of Francis Bacon, Joan Miro, Yves Klein, Damien Hirst, Victor Vasarely, Peter Halley, Peter Zimmerman and Hiroshi Sugimoto.
