The day that started WWI on the silver screen


The motion picture "A Day in Sarajevo" directed by Jasmila Zbanic will be screened at Pera Museum as a part of "Sarajevo Now" events. The causes and consequences of the assassination that happened in Sarajevo a hundred years ago still continue to reverberate in Europe. The assassination of the heir of the Austro-Hungarian Empire carried out by Gavrilo Princip on June 28, 2014 sparked the start of World War I. As Sarajevo commemorated the centennial of the assassination, different people had different interpretations of what happened in the city a century ago and different emotions about it. The film features the different perspectives on the anniversary of the assassination, the videos that were taken by the people of Sarajevo with their mobile phones and cameras and scenes from feature films about the assassination by directors from Austria, Bosnia Herzegovina and the U.K.When: Oct. 3Where: Pera Museum
