The new season opening of the Istanbul Recitals will host the "Only Beethoven" recital with Saleem Ashkar, who has made an international name for himself with his concerts at the world's most prestigious concert halls as well as his Beethoven performances. Born in 1976 in Israel, the 39-year-old musician was discovered by Zubin Mehta at the age of 17 and invited to perform Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1 with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. He completed his musical education at the Royal Academy of Music in London. Following his first album produced by EMI Classics in 2005, he signed a new contract with Decca in 2013. His 2013 album featured Beethoven's piano concertos no. 1 and 4. His latest album, which featured Beethoven's piano concertos no. 1 and 2, was released in 2014 by Decca. Gramophone Magazine pointed out Ashkar's latest album as one of the best records that has been released so far.
