Classical music concerts at Bodrum's Eklisia Church
Running in parallel with the Gümüşlük Classical Music Festival, the classical music concert series at the Byzantine-era Eklisia Church in Bodrum is another opportunity to refresh oneself on hot summer days. Turkey's first chamber music festival, the Eklisia Chamber Music Festival in Bodrum's small fishing village of Gümüşlük offers a two-week musical treat for residents and tourists traveling to Muğla province. Starting on Saturday with a concert by the Camerata Smyrna wind ensemble, the festival continues with the famous Borusan Quartet on Wednesday. The concert program includes Çellistanbul, a group of four Turkish cellists, on Aug. 7 and the Fuego Trio, which will wake up the senses with Argentine tango composer Astor Piazzolla's pieces, on Aug. 9. The Olten Quartet will perform on Aug. 11 and the Camerata Smyrna will be on stage once again for the final concert under the baton of Naci Özgüç.
