Artists coming from Bulgaria, Ukraine, Georgia and China will shape marble and granite on Kapıdağ Peninsula during the Cyzicus Sculpture Symposium, which began in Balıkesir's Erdek district. Apart from the international artists and academics, five students from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University will also build sculptures as a part of the symposium. Ten artists from four different countries will attend the month-long symposium. Located on Kapıdağ Peninsula, the ancient city of Cyzicus has a history of 3,500 years and it is believed that many of the sculptors and architects who worked during the construction of Cyzicus also worked on the construction of the entrance gates of Ephesus.
