Turkish film festival continues to attract London audience


The 20th annual London Turkish Film Festival is screening 22 feature-length films, three documentaries and six short films at three of the city's different venues - O2 Cineworld, Rio Cinema and ODEON Panton Street. Opened May 7 with the screening of Ata Demirer's latest film "Niyazi Gül, Dörtnala" (Niyazi Gül, the Galloping Vet), the event features "Annemin Şarkısı" (Song of My Mother) and "Nefesim Kesilene Kadar" (Until I Lose My Breath). Six films pay tribute to contemporary Turkish director Onur Ünlü. Additionally, documentary films focus on a wide range of subjects, including student-produced films on democracy and human rights as well as stories of Kurdish children, and the intriguing selection of short films also light up the festival's program.
