Master of bağlama to play Turkish folk music

İKSV Salon will host bağlama virtuoso Arif Sağ, one of the most important musicians of Turkish folk music, for the first time on Jan. 17. Sağ began playing the bağlama (an instrument with three sets of paired strings) at a very early age, and became the student of Nida Tüfekçi. He worked at TRT Istanbul Radio as a bağlama player and as an instructor at Istanbul Technical University Conservatory. He is also the co-writer of a two-volume book titled "Bağlama Method." In 2000, he gave numerous concerts in 12 European cities with Spanish flamenco artist Toma Tito that caused a stir across the region. Sağ stands out with his emotional repertoire and performance that is ornamented with local rhythms. When: Saturday Where: İKSV Salon
