Romain Descharmes to give piano recital in Istanbul


The talented French pianist Romain Descharmes will perform at Sakıp Sabancı Museum's center "The Seed," as a part of Istanbul Recitals on Jan. 16. Descharmes will enchant Istanbulites on a cold Istanbul night by performing his new compositions for the first time in Istanbul, as well as his old popular songs. The artist won the Encouragement Award at the Ettlingen International Piano Competition in Germany in 2000, and his success continued in 2003 when he won the "Extraordinary Musician Award" at the Hamamatsu International Piano Competition. The French pianist then drew attention from music authorities across the world by winning first place at the Dublin International Piano Competition in 2006. The pianist also claimed the second-place prize at the Alessandro Casagrande Competition and the grand prize at the Shanghai International Piano Competition.
