The "Talismans and Other Extraordinary Objects" exhibition, organized in collaboration with the Turkish Embassy in Rome and the New East Foundation, is being displayed at the Galleria delle Cinque Lune, one of the prestigious art galleries in Rome. With contributions by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), the exhibition launched last week with an elegant ceremony. The event presents more than 350 religious objects used in Mawlavi dervish lodges including misbaha (prayer beads), candlesticks, ancient calligraphy and gemstones. Aside from these, five contemporary paintings by Fatma Zeynep Çilek depict Sufi culture. New East Foundation President, Atılgan Bayar, told Anadolu Agency (AA), "The collection includes different objects from various dervish lodges. We have a larger collection, yet the exhibition only showcases the last 100 years." Bayar announced that the foundation will establish a research center in Rome, one of the capitals of Western culture. "We are planning to send doctorate students to Rome studying fields from art to theology. Interested students will be funded," he added.
