Turkish diva gears up for two-gig Istanbul performance

Legendary Turkish singer Sezen Aksu will perform for two nights at Istanbul's Harbiye Open Air Theater on Sept. 28 and Sept. 29. Turkish pianist and composer Fahir Atakoğlu and an acoustic band will be accompany the 60-year-old artist. Turkish singers Mustafa Ceceli and Erdem Yörük will also perform with Aksu. Aksu, regarded as the queen of Turkish contemporary music, has sold millions of records during her 40-year career. Both a songwriter and composer, the Turkish pop icon has broken many taboos by focusing on personal and political issues in her songs.
