Celebrating the 600th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkey and Poland, "Turkish Cinema Week" will take place in Poland from Oct. 3 to Oct. 10. Organized by the International Bosporus Cinema Association (UBSD), the event intends to contribute to the two countries' relations in the film industry. The festival will kick off with a special film screening of "Kelebegin Rüyası" (The Butterfly's Dream) by Yılmaz Erdogan at Warsaw's Kinoteka movie theater on Oct.4. The films will be featured concurrently in three different cities: Warsaw, Cracow and Lodz. Among the featurelength films to be screened are Nuri Bilge Ceylan's "Kıs Uykusu" (Winter Sleep), Mahmut Fazıl Çoskun's "Yozgat Blues," Kamil Koç's "Asfalt Çiçekleri" (Asphalt Flowers), Yesim Ustaoglu's "Araf" (Somewhere in Between), Erdem Tepegöz's "Zerre" (Particle), Ismail Günes's "Atesin Düstügü Yer" (Where the Fire Burns), Yüksel Aksu's "Dondurmam Gaymak" (Ice Cream, I Scream), Semir Aslanyürek's "Lal," and Mehmet Bahadır Er and Maryna Gorbach's "Sev Beni" (Love Me). Following the film screenings, panel discussions will be held with the participation of actors and directors. The festival will also present a selection of short Turkish films.
