"Sürgün Sultan" (The Sultan in Exile), a book by Zekeriya Yıldız about the last Ottoman Sultan, Mehmed Vahideddin VI, has been adapted into a script by the Oyuncu Tayfası theater group. The play tells the story of the last Ottoman Sultan on the way into exile and the troubles he suffered. It also depicts the drama of the final days of the Ottoman Empire.Aware of the complications of producing a historical play, the team uses state-of-the-art technology to depict Vahideddin's challenging journey. The play is directed by Ömer Mete Yılmaz and features actors Mustafa Can Kılıç, Coskun Gültekin, Ömer Faruk Yıldırım, Kenan Etisgen.Shedding light on recent history, the play opened on Feb. 22 at Zeytinburnu Cultural Center with the support of the Zeytinburnu Municipality.
