Russian President Vladimir Putin said Monday someone was harvesting biological samples from Russian citizens across the country.

Speaking at the Human Rights Council meeting, Putin said Russians were "an object of very great interest."

"Do you know that biological material is collected all over the country? And from different ethnic groups and people living in different geographical locations in the Russian Federation. The question is: why is it done? [It is] done purposefully and professionally," Putin said.

However, Russian president said that the situation should be treated without any fear.

"Let them do what they want, and we must do what we must," Putin said.

Russians wondered how Putin knew about bio samples being harvested across the country, but Kremlin spokesperson Dmitriy Peskov said security and intelligence services provided the president with the information.

According to Peskov, numerous cases were recorded, and both special services and the president have the information about "some emissaries" conducting such activities in Russia.

Russian conspiracy theory enthusiasts alleged that the bio samples were collected by the United States to create a biological weapon to kill genetically Russian people.
