Huge thunderstorms and heavy rain caused chaos in Germany's Cologne on Wednesday, leading to flash floods across urban areas.
The freak weather also affected daily life. Underpasses were left under water.
Rain levels also reached over 1.5 meters in several parts of the city, causing the traffic to slow to a halt as the torrential downpour showed no sign of stopping. Meteorologists have issued flash flood warnings.
The violent showers and thunderstorms come after Germany saw a surge of heat and humidity, with temperatures reaching as much as 32 degrees. Severe storms are expected to continue throughout the week, particularly in the east of the country.
