Ukrainian authorities have announced their uncovering of a prostitution ring that was sending young women to Turkey following the arrest of the two women who allegedly created and organized the network.

The National Guard of Ukraine, which is part of the country's interior affairs ministry, released a statement saying that the criminal network was discovered after Ukrainian police stopped two young women in Boryspil International Airport. The two women were supposedly en route to Turkey where they would be entered into the prostitution ring.

The crime network reportedly rounds up women younger than 30 years old in the eastern European country, and then sends them to Turkey for prostitution.

The leaders of the prostitution ring were arrested after Ukrainian police launched an investigation following the interception of the victims at Boryspil airport.

The suspects are due to be tried on charges of human trafficking. Ukrainian penal law enables prosecutors to seek prison sentence ranging from five to 20 years for such crimes.
