A World War II bomb found in Berlin on Wednesday was successfully defused in the early afternoon, local media reported.
The find had disrupted local and national rail service in the German capital around midday as the authorities had to cordon off the site within a 200-metre radius and evacuate local residents.
The bomb, which has an estimated weight of 100 kilograms, was found during street works in the city's eastern Friedrichshain district early Wednesday, the police said.
The location of the bomb was between Warschauer Strasse and Ostkreuz stations in an area popular with tourists.
