The anthem's tune was barely recognizable. The videos below will present how the anthem was played against how it should have sounded.
The Russian president arrived for a two-day official visit to his Egyptian counterpart Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi on Monday. The Russian leader was given a 21-gun salute as he was driven through the driveway of the presidential palace, flanked by soldiers on horseback. He was greeted by Sissi and cheering children waving the Russian flag.
Sissi tried to impress his Russian counterpart by placing his poster on the streets of the capital Cairo which were unusually high profile for a foreign leader, and by bringing out the Egyptian Army's orchestra to play the Russian national anthem. Everything had been going well until then, but when the orchestra hit the first key, everything took turn for the worst.
Putin's face looked as if he had seen a train wreck. His expression indicated that he was definitely not happy with the off-key rendition of Russia's national anthem, but he managed to endure it.
At least Sissi tried to make up for the Egyptian military band's poor attempt by taking Putin out for a romantic dinner afterwards. We believe the two made up later on.
