Energy Minister Berat Albayrak to speak at CERAWeek
Energy Minister Berat Albayrak is scheduled to deliver a speech today at the ministerial sessions of IHS CERAWeek 2017, one of the largest energy conferences in the world.
The conference, bringing together ministers and officials of oil and natural gas producing countries, as well as officials of international energy institutions, began in Houston, Texas yesterday.
The conference will also welcome many international figures, including International Energy Agency (IEA) Executive Director Fatih Birol, Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) Secretary General Muammed Barkindo, Saudi Arabian Energy Minister Khalid Al-Falih as well as ministers from other OPEC member states.
United Arab Emirates (UAE) Energy Minister Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak, and top executives from major American energy companies including, ExxonMobil, Chevron and ConocoPhillips will also be in attendance.
The conference, which will continue until March 10, is expected to focus on the impact of OPEC and Russia's decision to restrict oil production in the global oil market and crude oil prices along with the effects of the new U.S. government's energy policies on markets and companies.
Experts believe that OPEC and Russia's decision to restrict oil production will increase production capacities of U.S. oil companies by creating upward pressure on oil prices.
Pointing to U.S. President Donald Trump's promise to reduce regulations in the sector in order to launch an "energy revolution" in the country, experts indicate that American energy companies will have a more positive view in the conference.
