Fuel farm set to be built for Istanbul's third airport

A fuel farm with a storage capacity of 300,000 cubic meters will be built for Istanbul's third airport with a TL 210 million ($66 million) investment.Put out to tender by the General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMİ) in 2013 and consisting of four phases, Istanbul's third airport's fuel farm and hydrant lines projects have recently been launched and will later apply for an Environmental Impact Assessment report.

According to the application file, the fuel farm project is expected to be completed between 2017 and 2018 as part of the airport's Phase-1 operations. Including 10 fuel tanks, the fuel farm will be constructed on an area of about 17 hectares. A total of TL 210 million will be invested in the project.

While the fuel farm and hydrant system are slated to be constructed in parallel with infrastructure work, the fuel farm will reach its full capacity when all of the planned projects are completed, and it will have a total storage capacity of 300,000 cubic meters.

Obtaining fuel for the airport, storing the obtained fuel within the fuel farm, establishing a distribution facility and conducting the process along with a high-capacity aircraft hydrant system will be the primary concepts of the projected fuel system.
