The assistant chairman of the Russian energy company Gazprom, Alexander Medvedev, has announced that the Turkish Stream pipeline, which will carry Russian gas over Turkey to Europe, is scheduled to be completed in 2020. According to the official news agency of Russia, İtar-Tass, Medvedev said that both underwater and ground works of the pipeline are continuing as planned and the agreement is being drawn up for this project to be signed between the Turkish and Russian governments. "In 2020, the final stage of the project will commence and the gas transfer will start. A total of 14 billion cubic meters of natural gas for Turkey and 50 billion cubic meter of natural gas for Europe will be provided. The project will progress gradually and the final step is to be taken in 2020," said Medvedev. With the Turkish Stream project, which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced as a replacement for the Southern Stream Project was cancelled in December, a total of 63 billion cubic meter of gas will be transferred. The length of the Turkish Stream Pipeline will be 910 kilometers and 660 kilometers will pass through Russia while 250 kilometers through Turkey.
