Wall Street closed lower Thursday with as energy and tech stocks suffered heavy losses.
The Dow fell 158 points to close the day at 21,320 and the S&P lost 22 points to 2,409.
The Nasdaq shaved 61 points to finish trading at 6,089.
General Electric and ConocoPhillips saw their shares decline 3.8 percent and 1.9 percent, respectively.
Electric carmaker and energy storage company Tesla lost 5.6 percent after its flagship Model S car failed to earn top safety award because it scored "only an acceptable rating in the small overlap front test," according to the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety.
The company fell to second in the U.S. and sixth-place in global market valuation for carmakers.
