Beşiktaş Football Investments Industry and Trade Inc. (Beşiktaş Futbol Yatırımları Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş.), which completed the first half of this year with 9.5 percent rise among sports companies traded on the Borsa Istanbul Stock Exchange, has been named the most profit-making sports company for investors.
According to Anadolu Agency (AA), the sports index on the Borsa Istanbul declined by 0.62 percent in the first half of 2017.
Beşiktaş however became the most profit-generating sports company with a 9.5 percent rise in the first six months of the year. While Trabzonspor also ended the first six-month period with profit, Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray suffered losses.
Analysts say Beşiktaş came to the fore among other sports companies in the first half of the year because of the impact of its success in the Sport Toto Super League and UEFA Europa League.
Beşiktaş, the shares of which soared by 31 percent in the first quarter of the year, was named the only profit-generating sports company in this period.
Trabzonspor Sportive Investment and Football Operations Inc. (Trabzonspor Sportif Yatırım ve Futbol İşletmeciliği A.Ş.) completed the first half of the year with a gain of 1.06 percent, while Galatasaray Sportive Industrial and Commercial Investments (Galatasaray Sportif Sınai ve Ticari Yatırımlar A.Ş.) and Fenerbahçe Football Inc. (Fenerbahçe Futbol A.Ş.) brought losses for their investors in the first half of the year.
Fenerbahçe's shares lost 7.54 percent of their value in the same period, while they had risen by 1.52 percent in June compared to the previous month's close.
