According to the results of the "Hunger and Poverty Line" study by TÜRK-İŞ performed on a monthly basis for the last 28 years, as of September 2015, the food expenditures - denoting the hunger limit - for a family of four to have a healthy, balanced and adequate diet is TL 1,361.79 ($447), whereas last month the limit was TL 1,344.58 - an increase by TL 17. The announcement stressed that the total of other basic expenses alongside food, such as clothing, rent and utilities, transportation, education, health and other similar expenses - denoting the poverty line -increased from TL 4,379.73 to TL 4,434.16 in September. Within the last nine months an additional burden of TL 129 was added to the food expenses of such a family while the cost of the increase in life quality was TL 420.
