President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in an interview on Thursday warned the Arab world of the threat posed by the Gülenist Terror Group (FETÖ) while criticizing the Egyptian government and its leader Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi for their continued support to the group.Talking to the Qatar-based news channel, Al-Jazeera, Erdoğan said, "If they fall into the error of supporting FETÖ, they would eventually pay the price for it." While responding to a question about who particularly in the Arab world was supporting FETÖ, he said, "For example, Egypt." Erdoğan, however, mentioned that he draws a clear line between the Egyptian people and the regime in power there and underscored his love for Egyptians was just like his love for his own people. "The connections that tie us with the Egyptians are very strong. We always gave our support to them. However, our basic principles are certain. We are against coup regimes. Think about it, a military officer, assigned to a governmental post, uses the power of the military and betrays the country's democratically-elected government and its president. We cannot accept this situation," he said.
The president added that the Egyptian people can always regard Turkey by their side in their struggle for democracy.
Bozdağ criticizes Germany's inaction over Gülenists
Meanwhile, Justice Minister Bekir Bozdağ criticized Germany for harboring terrorists who operate against Turkey.
In this connection, Bozdağ mentioned Zekeriya Öz and Celel Kara, prosecutors linked to FETÖ who fled to Germany after they were sued in Turkey.
"They have been saying that they don't know the address of these prosecutors, even though we inform German authorities of their whereabouts. It is very clear what Turkey expects and what Germany is doing," the justice minister said.
He added that several FETÖ cases will be underway in the upcoming days and are expected to be concluded next year.
