Feridun Sinirlioğlu, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has been appointed as the Undersecretary to the Permanent Representation of Turkey to the United Nations, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Friday.The ministry's Spokesperson Tanju Bilgiç also appointed as Turkey's ambassador to Belgrade, the statement released by the ministry said.Sinirlioğlu has been a long-standing diplomat and served as a ministerial undersecretary before being given the interim post as foreign minister in a caretaker government which ran Turkey until the country's early elections were held on Nov. 1, 2015.Sinirlioğlu also served as Turkey's ambassador in Tel Aviv between 2002 and 2007.He has also served as the Chief Foreign Policy Advisor to Turkey's former President Süleyman Demirel between 1996 and 2000, Minister and Deputy Director General for the Middle East and North Africa between 2000 and 2002.
A number of other ambassadorial appointments were also announced: Deputy Foreign Minister Naci Koru will become permanent representative to the UN in Geneva; Turkey's Iraq ambassador Faruk Kaymakçı was assigned as permanent representative to the EU; Foreign Ministry Deputy Undersecretary Ali Kemal Aydın will become ambassador to Germany; and Foreign Ministry Deputy Undersecretary Murat Salim Esenli will become Turkey's ambassador to Italy.
Foreign Ministry Director-General for the Middle East and North Africa Can Dizdar was assigned as UAE ambassador and Foreign Ministry Deputy Undersecretary Levent Murat Burhan will become ambassador to Ireland.
According to the same sources, EU Ministry Undersecretary Rauf Engin Soysal was appointed as Turkey's representative to the OSCE.
Foreign Ministry Bilateral Political Relations Director-General Hulusi Kılıç will become Moldova ambassador while Tunç Uğdul, Foreign Ministry research and security affairs chief, was appointed as Poland ambassador. Asligül Uğdul will become Turkey's ambassador to Slovakia.
