Everyone in Europe would agree that there are no good or bad terrorists and terrorism is one of the greatest afflictions on humanity. Like many other parts of the world, some countries in the European Union were also hit by a number of terrorist attacks and they have seen the ugly face of terrorism and its atrocities. In the aftermath of the terrorist attacks in England, Spain, France, Belgium and Germany, the citizens of these countries lead their daily lives under tight security measures and concerns of another possible attack still hasn't gone away. After Christmas markets in various European cities were targeted by terrorists, the festive season was marred by a cloud of fear while heavily-armed troops and armored vehicles have become a common sight in many EU capitals.
Different terror groups, including Daesh, have particularly targeted Europe knowing it would have broader repercussions. As more terrorists are apprehended, more facts are revealed that demonstrate the extent of the threat posed by terrorism to Europe.
The situation is also the same for the EU candidate Turkey. Measures against terror attacks have become a part of ordinary life in Turkey. The country is determinedly fighting against the outlawed PKK, not just in Turkey, but also in Iraq and Syria. So far, many Turkish citizens have been killed in attacks carried out by the PKK. As the terrorists are being cornered, they are getting even more aggressive and are not shying away from targeting civilians. That's exactly why all the people in Turkey have always supported the fight against the PKK.
Unfortunately, some EU countries don't even attempt to prevent the PKK's activities. Despite the fact that the PKK is one of the most prominent actors in drug and human trafficking in Europe, the PKK militants and proponents have continued their propaganda activities.
However, they seem to abstain from organizing attacks inside the EU since they know that they will be targeted by European police, counterterror units and intelligence organizations, if they show their true color. They have masterfully manipulated the situation to their advantage.
But condoning a terror group, as Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands does in case of the PKK, only because it does not attack European countries is a disgrace to a state of law. Now, the PKK is recruiting new terrorists by brainwashing the youth in these countries and sending them to Turkey, Iraq or Syria. Condoning this is no different than siding with the terrorists.
This situation also applies to the Gülenist Terror Group (FETÖ), who organized the July 15 coup attempt in Turkey that claimed many lives. FETÖ is not recognized as a terrorist group particularly in Germany and Belgium to create a barrier for President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
However, in the years before Erdoğan, FETÖ was recognized as a dangerous network by the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution in Germany and the schools owned by FETÖ were closely followed and opening new schools were prevented. German security units were well aware of the fact that, despite FETÖ's efforts to represent itself as a pacifist and moderate group, the group actually wanted to form a fascist dictatorship by abusing Islam.
Seemingly, they need this terrorist group to apply some schemes on Turkey, given that the same people who tried to prevent FETÖ-affiliated schools from opening are now rejecting the demands of closing these very schools for brainwashing children.
The PKK and the FETÖ are currently in the position of being "good" terrorists in several EU countries. This doesn't make any sense because both groups don't hesitate to cooperate with Daesh in Turkey, Iraq, and Syria. Also, a large number of FETÖ-linked military and police officers in Turkey supported the PKK. Likewise, the world has witnessed many times that FETÖ and the PKK cooperated with Daesh to prolong the Syrian civil war and turn the allocation of Syrian territories to their favor.
So, the terrorists that are considered to be "good" by some EU countries are secretly friends with "bad" terrorists, enabling them to organize attacks that turn Europe into a bloodbath. One day, the current administrators of those EU countries will have to give an account of their mistakes to future generations because it will be too late when today's so-called "good" terrorists turn "bad."
