Turkey's fight against terror will also benefit the EU
Those who are not aware of the developments in Syria, or who support terrorist organizations, are criticizing Turkey. What has Turkey done? Why is it being criticized? Turkey is currently the only country fighting against all kinds of terrorist activities in Syria. It is the only country endeavoring to create proper conditions for Syrian refugees to stay in their homeland, who have been flooding into the EU countries.
The people who don't want to accept refugees in the EU call Turkey to open its borders to refugees, which is a highly hypocritical and ridiculous approach. This approach also reveals that they are talking through their hats without knowing the developments in the region. If the borders of Turkey were closed to refugees, the 2.5 million refugees who are currently in Turkey could not have crossed into the country. Why do the people escaping from the tyranny of terrorists in Syria take shelter in Turkey? The answer is that Turkey is the only country which protects them and provides for their needs, both within Turkey and at the border.
What would be the situation of the EU if Turkey did not have an exemplary refugee policy and implementation? It is easy to give advice from a distance. What is the EU doing in this regard? Can it be exempted from its responsibilities simply by providing 3 billion Euros to Turkey, a promise which it has not yet fulfilled? Is it that simple? Where are the EU countries that protect EU values? Some are busy with discrediting the EU before the world public by coming up with suggestions such as closing the borders of Eastern Europe.
Those disapproving and condemning the Turkish Armed Forces' (TSK) shelling of Democratic Union Party (PYD) positions in Aleppo either do not know what they are talking about, or explicitly support terrorist groups.
If the TSK does not pound the PKK-linked PYD and its military wing, namely the People's Protection Units (YPG), the number of refugees that have to leave Syria will rise up by hundreds of thousands.
Those giving advice from a distance should be informed about the facts.
Russia, Iran, Assad's murderous army, the PYD… None of them is fighting against DAESH in Syria at the moment. DAESH is only used as an excuse.
Russia endeavors to revive Assad as an active agent by hiding behind the lies of bombing DAESH. Instead of targeting DAESH positions, Russian jets are hitting rebel factions who fight for a free and democratic Syria. In Aleppo, not DAESH, but Sunni Muslims are being targeted. Russian jets also pound the Turkish border with Syria, where Turkmens are located. They are targeted by Russian jets because they resist Assad's tyranny.
Iran has also been in a battle in Syria. Iranian soldiers are in a sectarian conflict against Sunnis, who have been oppressed for decades in Syria. Just as in Yemen, they are provoking Shiites against Sunnis. Russia and Iran are the two countries which are overtly fighting in Syria. But why does the EU remain silent? Are Syrians being victimized so that some EU countries can implement mega projects in Iran, following the end of sanctions?
Those talking through their hats are mistaken, since they believe in lies. These are people who favor assistance to the PYD and the YPG, because they are supposedly fighting against DAESH, are actually contributing to the emergence of a new DAESH-like terrorist group. Neither the PKK nor the PYD fires a single bullet at DAESH.
The PKK and PYD, who have enjoyed international support by claiming to fight against DAESH, are in fact in close cooperation with Assad's intelligence agency, al-Mukhabarat, to share Syria. Having opened a representation office in Moscow, receiving weapon aid from Russia and forcing Turkmens in the northern Syria to leave the region with their attacks, the PYD has only one goal: to dominate North Iraq and North Syria along with the PKK.
Toward this end, they do not even avoid making deals with DAESH, apportioning land almost consensually. In brief, the PYD is one of the main causes for the refugee influx into the EU countries.
For all the reasons I listed, the PYD and the YPG have been targeted by the TSK. As the YPG has tried to repel opponents in Aleppo and opened fire on NATO member Turkey's territory, the TSK has shelled and will continue to shell the YPG positions.
Turkey repeatedly announced that it would implement the rules of engagement in the face of an attack within Turkish territory. Thus the immediate response to the latest attack. Turkey has been in an effective fight to eradicate the PKK, so the country cannot be expected to tolerate the PKK-linked PYD. Fighting against a terrorist group which terrorizes the north of Syria is equivalent to fighting against DAESH.
The EU will also gain advantage if it supports Turkey's struggle against the PKK. If Syria is left to Russia, Iran, DAESH, the PKK, the PYD and Assad's army, the number of refugees heading to the EU will climb even more.
