Nothing is more natural than the societal reaction against the outlawed PKK, which lately started to act in a frenzy with its terrorist assaults in Dağlıca and Iğdır. However, it is really important how these reactions are and to whom they are addressed. Each attack on a Kurdish citizen or Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) offices in urban areas is the exact thing that the PKK and other forces trying to drag Turkey into a chaos want.
One must not fall into this trap since obtaining results through terror has come to an end. Observe the latest developments. What is the PKK doing at the moment other than losing its ground in Syria and wasting the political achievement the HDP obtained in Turkey? In a period when using weapons was about to become a thing of the past and democratic ways were opened, the organization started to shed blood again.
It makes no sense to deviate to violence in such a period. Due to this, the people living in the southeast and east do not back up the organization. They are laying claim to their destroyed bridges and reacting against fatalities. Therefore, despite the perception operations of some intellectuals and the support of some media outlets that are obsessed with anti-Justice and Development Party (AK Party) propaganda, the PKK is losing its power and reputation along with the HDP.
At this very point we have seen that some forces in the west of the country took to the streets, mainly the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) and its circle. This indicates that the coup dynamics, which have been planned for a long time and implicitly expressed between the lines have been mobilized. Demand for martial law is not a good sign. And just like the HDP, the MHP is also losing its reputation since it could not create any policy and recklessly rejected everything after the June 7 elections.
The target is clear when the political base is considered to deepen the chaos by bringing these two parties, which are doing politics through nationalism, against each other. If they succeed, they will drift the country into civil war. And if they do not succeed, both parties will form blocs with their bases.
In other words, the MHP will preserve its position with the politics it does through the killed officers while the HDP will act as an aggrieved party due to the attacks on its offices and Kurdish citizens in the west. So the torment of the PKK, which turned the region into a bloodbath with its terrorism, would be absolved. This is an old and dirty game.
Every patriot must act attentively and responsibly against this dirty game. The PKK is intentionally poisoning the ground that allows all kinds of negotiations and opens political ways. Those missing the old Turkey are ardently watching this poisoning process and even triggering it with their lies.
Turkey has a historical wealth and an experience with democracy that could stop the incidents. Tackling this hard period with minimum damage is what really matters. Politics has the greatest duty at this point. Particularly the AK Party and the Republican People's Party (CHP), which should not hand over Turkey to two nationalist parties, have a great share in this duty. Such an opportunity exists, but I am not sure whether the CHP, which still has not been able to change its political language, will see it.
As for the HDP, consider the period after the June 7 elections. Would Turkey be at this point if the HDP had done politics with its 80 deputies? Unfortunately, the HDP wasted a significant opportunity of doing politics, which Kurds have achieved after 100 years, and it is now almost calling for civil war.
Politics can stop this frenzy and political blindness. A coalition is not the only method of reconciliation in democracies, it is possible for the opposition to reconcile crucial subjects of the country, which would be more meaningful.
