Did the EU ever consider Turkey a part of Europe?
The EU should either take the PKK off its terrorist list and tell Turkey that it wants the establishment of a Kurdish state on Turkish soil or treat the PKK as a terrorist organization
European Commission President Jean Claude Juncker said, "I am sad to say Turkey is distancing itself from Europe. It is not Europe that is distancing itself from Turkey." Speaking to the Le Soir newspaper he also commented on the messages sent by Ankara that Turkey will shelve the agreement on Syrian migrants and said, "I am insensitive to threats. If Turkish citizens do not win the right for free circulation in Europe it will be the fault of Turkey." Similar views are being entertained by many EU executives and officials from member countries. If Europe is run by such people, its no wonder the British decided to walk out of this mess and that the EU members are in such a swamp. This is exactly the mindless attitude that is progressively alienating the Turkish people and forcing them to ask "why are we still trying to be a part of this Union of Hypocrites?"
The EU has not kept any of its promises to Turkey. There are too many instances to prove this. Turkey and the EU signed an agreement saying that Ankara would stem the tide of Syrian migrants trying to get to northern Europe through the Greek islands and Greece. Turkey kept its promise to the full. Is there a single EU official who can contest this statement? However, the EU promised to grant 3 billion euros for the 3 million Syrians in Turkey and this did not happen. The EU promised to lift the visa restrictions for Turks in the Schengen region and that too did not happen because EU officials insisted on Ankara changing its anti-terrorism laws when Turkey was and is still under attack from at least four terrorist groups. Turkey suffered a major shock on July 15 when a group of Fetullah Gülen followers that had infiltrated the military tried to stage a bloody coup and failed thanks to a courageous stand by the Turkish people. The EU failed to stand by the Turkish people and their democracy and some even in Europe were disappointed that the coup failed. So much for supreme EU values. Later EU officials admitted they were too late in backing the heroic stance of the Turkish people. Today the EU is still providing tacit support for those who staged the coup and later escaped to Europe. Turkey declared a State of Emergency in view of the coup plot and thus started to clear away the remnants of the coup plotters. Europe also objected to this. This is the kind of hypocrisy we are facing.
The EU has declared the PKK a terrorist organization and yet we observe that the member states led by Germany and Belgium are doing their best to protect and encourage the PKK. The terrorist organization has stepped up its secessionist war in Turkey, yet it is being badly beaten by security forces. Meanwhile the Peoples› Democratic Party (HDP), which is represented in Parliament and has close ties with the EU socialists, have been actively supporting the PKK. They have provided funds for the PKK, transported arms and bombs for the PKK and have helped them in recent uprisings in the cities and towns of southeastern Turkey. Some deputies who have been very active in this have been indicted and have been asked to face prosecution. When they failed to turn up for questioning they were taken into custody and some were eventually arrested. The EU and especially Germany objected to this and threatened Turkey. Germany is even suspected of having provided the PKK with anti-tank missiles.
If this is the case then the EU should take the PKK off its terrorist list and tell Turkey that it wants the establishment of a Kurdish state on Turkish soil. If that is not the case then the PKK should be treated as a terrorist organization in Europe and the HDP should be criticized for helping a terrorist group.
The EU had promised the Turkish Cypriots assistance and facilities if they approved the Kofi Annan plan for peace in Cyprus. The Turks approved the plan but the Greek Cypriots rejected it. It was all a joke. The EU made the Greek Cypriots a member and just turned its back on the Turkish Cypriots, another example of EU hypocrisy.
With all these examples listed one after another can anyone with a bit of sense claim Turkey is distancing itself from the EU? Juncker and his gang should drop the pretense and say openly "we do not want you in the EU" because actions speak louder than words.
