...and Israel's radical Jews eye the Al-Aqsa compound

Netanyahu supports the Jewish radicals' plot to partition Al-Aqsa, which will serve as a pretext to attack the Muslims and cause further complications in the region

The recent raid by Israeli security on Al-Aqsa Mosque compound shows the growing menace of Israeli radical Jews who want to grab a chunk of the area and the inclination of the Netanyahu administration to appease them.To allow Israeli radicals to set up settlements on Palestinian land is a major act of provocation that has all the elements of further destabilizing an already very tricky situation in the region. However, in recent months Israel has been turning a blind eye and at times is unfortunately encouraging ultranationalist Jews to enter Al-Aqsa Mosque quarters, which is supposed to be under the safekeeping of an Islamic foundation led by Sheikh Omar al Kiswami according to international agreements. Here the Jews are openly playing with fire as the international community and the Western powers have buried their heads in the sand.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, a conservative Jew, has formed an alliance with the Jewish radicals and ultranationalists and is doing everything to keep them happy. Thus he progressively allows the Jewish radicals to visit Al-Aqsa quarters with the pretext of allowing them to pray at the Temple Mount, which is just above the Wailing Wall that is sacred for Jews.

This has angered Muslims, who have started to organize in male and female groups to oppose the Israeli moves. Israel has hit back claiming these people are Islamic activists and is using every pretext to raid Al-Aqsa quarters. This time the pretext was the advent of the Jewish New Year and to secure the Jewish praying grounds. Israel on Sunday morning raided Al-Aqsa compound, wounded two Muslim policemen guarding the compound claiming to search for explosives stashed by Muslim activists. The real reason was to help some 40 Jewish radical settlers enter the compound, intimidate Muslim worshippers during morning prayers and continue the process of partitioning the compound in favor of the Jews.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has raised the issue with United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and the head of the Presidency of Religious Affairs of Turkey (DİB), Professor Mehmet Görmez, issued a strongly worded statement condemning the Israeli raid on Al-Aqsa compound.

Both have warned that the Jewish radicals are executing a plan to partition Al-Aqsa and have spread their plot over a period of time. They have stressed this is an explosive situation that will lead to further complications in the region where sensitivities are already at boiling point.

It is time countries like Saudi Arabia, Egypt and others who are close to the United States to take note of the situation and prod Washington to wake up to the growing menace of Jewish radicalism in the Middle East as much as the Islamic extremism displayed by fanatics.

Israel can be run by nationalists and ultraconservatives. This is the preference of the people of Israel and it has to be respected. However, when the radicals start taking action that will further destabilize our region it is time for everyone to raise their voices. If we raise our voice against the radicals of the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS) for their barbaric acts and bomb them we should at least have the courage to tell the Israeli radicals that they are playing with fire and their acts will not be tolerated.
