Five films to debut this week


Grain (Buğday)

Directed by Semih Kaplanoğlu, "Buğday" (Grain) focuses on the journey of two scientists, Cemil Akman and Professor Suat Erin, an expert in seed genetics as they travel to the forbidden area known as the "dead soil."

Expanding beyond the boundaries of ordinary ways of expression, Kaplanoğlu tells a story that is inspired by Hızır (a Godsend and helper) and Moses, who are mentioned in Surah Al-Kehf in the Quran. The film has many references to Sufism and philosophical ideas.the journey of a scientist, who abandons everything, and a specialist in seed genetics.

Written by Semih Kaplanoğlu and Leyla İpekçi, the film stars Jean-Marc Barr, Ermin Bravo, Grigoriy Dobrygin, Cristina Flutur, Lubna Azabal and Mila Böhning in the leading roles. Shooting of the film was done in the U.S., Germany and Turkey and the film's director of cinematography is Giles Nuttgens. Co-produced by Turkey, Germany, France, Sweden and Qatar, "grain" was filmed with the support of the Turkish Prime Ministry's Promotion Fund, the General Cinema Directorate of the Culture and Tourism Ministry, TRT and Galata Film.

Wonder

Based on the New York Times Bestseller "Wonder, the film tells the inspiring and heartwarming story of August Pullman, a boy with facial differences who attends a normal school for the first time.

Directed by Stephen Chbosky, "Wonder" stars Julia Roberts, Jacob Tremblay, Owen Wilson, Mandy Patinkin, Steve Bacic, Izabela Vidovic and Daveed Diggs. The drama is written by the trio, Stephen Chbosky, Steve Conrad and Jack Thorne.

Paddington 2

Directed by Paul King, "Paddington 2," which is the sequel film of "Paddington," focuses on the events after Bear Paddington's gift to Aunt Lucy is stolen.

The U.K. production, which is written by Simon Farnaby and Paul King, stars Sally Hawkins, Brendan Gleeson, Hugh Grant, Jim Broadbent, Julie Walters, Peter Capaldi, Hugh Bonneville and Samuel Joslin.

My Brother 2 (Kardeşİm Benİm 2)

"Kardeşim Benim 2", (My Brother 2) once again brings together Burak Özçivit and Murat Boz. The film is about the adventures of two brothers who see each other for the first time in years at their father's funeral.

Directed by Mert Baykal, the film features Burak Özçivit, Murat Boz, Ferdi Sancar, Leyla Feray, Pınar Deniz, Ozan Çelik, Sezgi Mengi, Ayhan Taş and Engin Şenkan.

Morgue (Morg)

Directed by Tuncer Gürbüz, "Morg" (Morgue) is a thriller/horror that focuses on the events that take place after a man, who kills his wife and pregnant daughter, is haunted by his daughter's ghost.

The film stars Emin Gümüşkaya, Cengiz Demir Öztürk, Gamze Pelin Gökçe and Banu Ölmez.
