Vancouver Film School instructors to visit Turkey


Developing models for education in media, film and television, the Istanbul Media Academy is collaborating with international organizations amid aims to propel its students to new heights in achieving international standards. Trainees at the Vancouver Film School (VFS), a Canada-based film school, will come to Turkey in cooperation with the Istanbul Media Academy to participate in new educational programs and foreign exchange programs offered in collaborations between the VFS and the Istanbul-based academy.

VFS trainers will meet film lovers in Istanbul as part of collaborative efforts with the Turkish academy. The first of these meetings will be held at Istanbul Media Academy with training provided between Nov. 4-5. On the first day of this program, participants will undergo training in the basic elements of creating a story, the creation of a scenario and acting and directing, which are important parts of creating an effective and successful film.

On the second day of training, participants will complete a long-take project in groups of five, with what they will have learned on day one. During training in which shooting will be evaluated by VFS trainers, the participants will be chosen via an interview process.

While applications for this training close on Oct.25, interviews will be completed at the Istanbul Media Academy on Oct. 30-31.

International Bosporus Film Festival events

At the 5th International Bosporus Film Festival in cooperation with the International Bosporus Cinema Foundation and Istanbul Media Academy, workshops will be held in the section assigned to the VSF, along with several competitions. The winners of the competitions will be awarded with educational opportunities.
