Award-winning children's films come to Eskişehir


The 13th Children's Film Festival organized by the Turkish Foundation of Cinema and Audio-Visual Culture Foundation (TÜRSAK) with the support of Turkey's Culture and Tourism Ministry, has opened its doors in Eskişehir. The film screenings are taking place at the Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality Atatürk Culture, Arts and Congress center. Entry to the festival and screenings of the award-winning children's films are free of charge. The festival kicked off on Nov. 29 with the screening of "Jonas on the Sea," Toronto Film Festival's 2015 "Best Animated Film" award winner and will continue until Dec. 2. This year, the festival is collaborating with the Vocal Description Foundation, which provides the opportunity for children with hearing and visual impairments to enjoy the films being screened at the festival.A total of 30 films will be shown for the children of Eskişehir during the 13th edition of Children's Film Festival. Similar to previous years, the films have been dubbed by Fulya Aksular, who is also known as the "story-teller sister." Aksular also has narrated stories to accompany films with no dialogues.As a part of the 13th Children's Film Festival, Gökhan Mutlay will organize a Creative Writing Workshop for children on Wednesday, between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. Under the guidance of the academics Yasin Arslan and Rıdvan Çevik and with technical support by Ahmet Cihat Etlibaş, an Animation Workshop will be held by Anadolu University, also on Wednesday. The Animation Workshop, which aims to teach children about animation and the creation of films, will offer children a chance to practice animation techniques in addition to the presentations by the young academics.
