Six films debut in theaters this week


One Turkish and five foreign films premiere in Turkish theaters this week. Selma"Selma" has been nominated for a Best Picture in the 2015 Oscars and was up for fourGolden Globes awards. The biographical drama chronicles Martin Luther King's efforts for equal voting rights through an epic march from Selma to Montgomery in Alabama. Directed by Ava DuVernay, the English-American production features David Oyelowo, Carmen Ejogo and Tim Roth along with Tom Wilkinson, Oprah Winfrey, Martin Sheen and Giovanni Ribisi. The film shed lights on King's 1965 campaign. King encouraged black American citizens to walk the 54-mile highway during three protest marches. The campaign urged President Lyndon Baines Johnson to introduce the civil rights act.WildDirected by Jean Marc, "Wild" stars Academy Award-winner Reese Witherspoon, Laura Dern, Thomas Sadoski and Keene McRae. The drama was adapted from Cherly Strayed's best-seller book "Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail." A woman embarks on a solo hike along the Pacific Crest Trail to recover from her mother's recent death, destroyed marriage and reckless behavior.Force MajeureStarring Johannes Kuhnke, Lisa Loven Kongsli, Vincent Wettergren and Clara Wettergren, "Force Majeure" depicts a Swedish familyon a ski holiday in the French Alp. They find themselves facing an avalanche and try to escape. The film discusses the modern family and the role of man. The film is directed by Ruben Östlund.Jupiter AscendingThis 3D sci-fi film stars Channing Tatum, Mila Kunis, Sean Bean, Eddie Redmayne, Douglas Booth, Tuppence Middleton, Doona Bae, James D'Arcy and Tim Pigott-Smith. "Jupiter Ascending" was written and directed by Lana and Andy Wachowski, the creators of the "Matrix" series. Viewers take a journey from the streets of Chicago to distant galaxies.The Spongebob Movie: Sponge out of WaterThis week's animation film is adapted from the famous America TV series of the same title and dubbed by Antonio Banderas, Frankie Muniz, Clancy Brown and Tom Kenny. The world's beloved animation character comes ashore and begins its most heroic journey. Paul Tibbitt is the director.Sevimli Tehlikeli (Pretty Dangerous)Turkish actor and director Özcan Deniz's new film "Sevimli Tehlikeli" (Pretty Dangerous) features Şükrü Özyıldız, Ayça Ayşin Turan, Türkan Kılıç and Taner Turan in its cast. Many years ago, Zarok (Şükrü Özyıldız) kidnaps a baby girl from a family living in Edirne and gives her to another family. The baby's real family suffers a great deal, and Zarok bitterly regrets the act. Many years later Zarok decides to return the girl to her real family, but finds himself in love.
