An American Airlines flight heading to JFK Airport in New York from Manchester, England was forced to make an emergency landing mid-flight and is returning back to Manchester.
Manchester Airport confirmed the plane landed safely after the crew declared an emergency related to a maintenance issue.
The plane began turning around over the Irish Sea after it reached an altitude of 30,000ft and a ground speed of about 430 knots.
The airline said in a tweet that the team "will get everything squared and wheels up again as soon as possbile."
