While airline companies are pleased with the nine-day holiday, Turkish Airlines (THY) broke its passenger record by attaining an 88 percent occupancy rate on its international flights. THY Chairman İlker Aycı said, "We are having a very fruitful holiday."
Making assessments at Istanbul Atatürk Airport on the occasion of Kurban Bayram, Aycı paid a visit to airport reporters. Answering their questions following his visit, Aycı said: "We maintain a number of about 89,200 passengers [per day], which will exceed 90,000, including transit passengers." Aycı said it was a long-awaited picture and hopefully it will continue after the holiday.
Announcing THY's occupancy rate as 88 percent, Aycı said the domestic flight occupancy rate exceeded 92 percent. Pointing out that a not-so-good period had been by-passed and that the company is collecting the energy needed for a fresh start with a brand new 2017, Aycı said they had prepared for about 90,000 passengers, and they are pleased with the current numbers.
Aycı said they would introduce a healthy kitchen concept to passengers in the coming period and apply innovative treats. "We are talking about an understanding that befits the healthy life concept developing in the world along with a renewed low-calorie kitchen concept maintaining the amount of fat at a reasonable level," Aycı said.
