Limak İnşaat, one of the leading construction companies in Turkey, signed a contract to construct a subway line in a tender with a price tag of 224 million euros in the Ukrainian city of Dnipro. The 4.5-kilometer subway line will have three train stations that pass through the most central parts of the city.The contract was signed by Limak Holding Board Member Serdar Bacaksız on behalf of Limak İnşaat and Dnipro Mayor Borys A. Filatov. Construction of the line is expected to be completed in five years, according to the bid specifications.Bacaksız delivered a speech during the signing ceremony, saying that Limak İnşaat is very happy and proud to do business with Ukraine. He stated the contract will be a significant new start for Limak İnşaat in Ukraine, adding, "Although we have been given a five-year time table for construction, we, as Limak İnşaat, will complete the work before the deadline as usual and with impeccable quality. We expect to complete the subway line in four years."According to Bacaksız, construction as well as the design and electromechanical construction of the subway line will be undertaken by Limak İnşaat. He said the project, which will be an important turning point for the company, will pave the way for it to be a competitive participant in the construction of other subway lines worldwide.Limak İnşaat made great efforts to reach the contract-signing phase of the bidding process, which lasted nearly four-and-a-half years. Bacaksız continued, "As a Turkish firm, we are proud to have signed this contract after such a challenging process."More than 30 international construction companies participated in the bid, which was financed in its entirety by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the European Investment Bank (EIB).
