Today, 24 firms will bid on the tender for the construction of Çukurova Regional Airport.
According to the build-operate,-transfer (BOT) model, the winning firm will assume responsibility for the new airport, which is estimated to cost TL 750 million ($252.4 million) and serve 30 million passengers annually.
The airport, which will serve both domestic and international flights, is expected to be operational in about two years once the winner of the tender is determined.
Also, the proximity of the new airport to Adana and Mersin city centers is considered to be advantageous in terms of easy transportation.
