After her husband's death 13 years ago in Denizli, Remziye Güneş took his place and started to run her former husband's textile company. She currently has 200 employees, 20 of whom are women.
Güneş said men worked in the factory since the physical requirements were heavy, but women worked in other sections of the company. She added that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had invited her to visit the presidential palace on International Women's Day.
"There are of course some difficulties associated with being a woman in the business world. However as long as women are brave and eager to take risks, they can do many things. Our women should not give up because of difficulties. That's how I could manage to come here so far. There is nothing our women cannot do, as long as they are stubborn and determined. I found myself in the middle of everything, due to the hard circumstances following my husband's death."
