Fenerbahçe Sports Club has announced that it has signed a contract worth $90 million with Yıldız Holding for stadium naming rights, advertisement and promotion rights. Fenerbahçe made an announcement on the Public Disclosure Platform that "A contract was signed between our company and Yıldız Holding that covers 10 seasons starting from the 2015-2016 season to the end of the 2024-2025 season and includes the naming rights of the Şükrü Saraçoğlu Stadium and other sundry advertisement and promotion rights at $90 million in total [$9 million annually]."
Fenerbahçe, which was founded in 1907 by a group of local men, is one of the most successful and best supported football teams in Turkey. The club has never been relegated to a lower division and currently competes in the Super League and the Turkish Cup. Fenerbahçe has won 19 Süper League trophies, six Turkish Cups, nine Turkish Super Cups, eight Chancellor Cups and 12 TSYD Cup trophies. In international club football, Fenerbahçe won one Balkans Cup trophy. The club was sponsored by Avea, Türk Telekom and Ülker, a subsidiary of Yıldız Holding, from 2009 to 2014.
Turkish food giant Ülker and its parent company Yıldız Holding announced on Jan. 14, 2015 that they decided to withdraw their support from Turkish football, blaming the "declining atmosphere and fan attraction" for their decision. Yıldız Holding contributes an average of TL 60 million ($26.3 million) annually to sports, and has contributed TL 215 million to football in the last nine years, according to economy website CNBC-e. Ülker is the sponsor of the Turkish national football team, Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray.
