India's L&T wins highway deal


DOHA – The transportation infrastructure business of India's Larsen & Toubro Construction (L&T) has secured a major order worth $600 million to build a major highway in Qatar. The contract, which has been awarded by the Gulf state's Public Works Authority, also known as Ashghal, covers the design and construction of the Al Wakrah Bypass Road. The work involves the construction of an 11-kilometer road consisting of 10 lanes and four future lane sections, frontage roads and ramps. The project is scheduled to be completed in 32 months. The Al Wakrah Bypass is a major South-North freeway connecting the existing Al Wakrah-Mesaieed Road.
