Gül: The economy was not harmed due to reforms

Turkey has grown stronger as a result of significant reforms says President Gül adding, “We have become the type of nation that can protect itself against both internal and external shockwaves. Financial fluctuations did not have an effect on us.”

Speaking at the opening of the International Industrial Engineers' Institute's Operational Research and Industrial Engineering 33rd National Congress, President Abdullah Gül stated that Turkey has now become a country able to withstand both internal and external shockwaves.

"Turkey has become the type of country that can protect itself from shockwaves as a result of the rooted political, economic and legal reforms we have realized. We are also aware that this is currently being tested," said Gül adding "We have all witnessed together that on the extended global plan there have been significant fluctuations. The global financial crises have not affected Turkey's strong economy."
