Turkey should build as many nuclear power stations as possible

International Energy Agency (IEA) Chief Economist Fatih Birol says that Turkey needs to build as many nuclear power plants as possible while placing vital importance on their safety.

International Energy Agency (IEA) Chief Economist Fatih Birol recently commented on increasing the number of nuclear power stations to be built in Turkey by stating that Turkey should build as many nuclear plants as possible, while ensuring high importance is placed on their safety.

Birol stated, "The more nuclear power stations that are built in Turkey, the better. However, there are two "buts". The first is that the cost to do so must be parallel to Turkey's interests. And the second is that location, technology, Turkey's geological conditions and 'know-how' need to all be taken into consideration," said Birol.
