The Karaköy Istanbul Modern Museum has opened its doors for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, known for its defining influence of a variety of trends in the ready-wear sector.
Istanbul Fashion Week, which runs from March 12-16, opened with a runway show by President of the Turkish Fashion Designers Association Mehtap Elaidi . Her 2013-14 fall-winter collection, which opened the event, is entitled 'Az' and was based on the mindset of a pianist who has spent her entire life on a cruise ship.
A number of famous figures from Turkey's business and arts world came out for the launch of this year's Fashion Week. However, it is deemed certain that in addition to interest from Turkey, foreign investors and consumers will have a peaked interest in this spring event. Organization authorities say they plan to ensure a million people in 200 different countries access the week's events through social media outlets. Throughout the week there will be a total 33 designers and brands presenting their lines.

The second runway show held at Mercedes-Benz Fashion week was NIAN by Nihan Buruk. The runway show marked the second showing of the famous Turkish designer's 80-piece 'Departmental People Collection' which she recently debuted on February 15 at London Fashion Week.
