While uncertainty in Libya prevails as rebel forces enter Tripoli, yesterday Economy Minister Zafer Çağlayan, Foreign Affairs Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yıldız met with businessmen engaged in projects in Libya in order to formulate a road map for the country. During the meeting, also attended by a number of members from NGO's, the upcoming trip by a committee from Turkey was included in the agenda. Turkey's Contractors Union Chairman Emin Sazak informed of plans to conduct inspections in Libya immediately following the religious holiday. Emphasizing that Turkey's involvement in the initial stages involving the reconstruction of roads, water, energy, transportation, health and security is extremely significant, Sazak states, "We may establish a joint center with the Turkish embassy in order to expedite activities at this stage." Sazak also mentioned that due to the risky working conditions with Eximbank, an additional assurance is necessary, and stated, "We will also discuss with Eximbank what sort of formula could be established."
'CLEAR THE SLATE'
Mesa İnşaat Chairman of the Executive Board Erhan Boysanoğlu states that Libyans will need support in urgent reconstruction jobs such as the rebuilding of roads, schools and hospitals and that Turkish companies should absolutely play a role during this period even if they are to receive payment at a later date.
Boysanoğlu states, "European firms tend to avoid entering risky regions at the beginning stage. Turkish companies should make the sacrifice and take on an initiating role during this period. The decisions to be made by the new administration in Libya will also be important. However, in order to collaborate with Turkish firms in any way, they must clear the slate and pay the money we are owed."
FIRST STEP IS BENGHAZI
Turkey's Exporters Union Vice Chairman Ahmet Akbalık states, "Benghazi, the location where the uprising first erupted, is a safer city now in comparison to others. During the meeting we not only discussed Libya from an economic standpoint, but also its political and social structure. The country needs rehabilitation and restoration." Akbalık also went on to state, "Libya has full support from Turkey. A new page will be opened."

"We will repair the airport…"
Sani Şener, the CEO of TAV Airport Holding which built the 1.5 billion Euros Tripoli Airport, states; "We had completed 35 percent of the project prior to the events which transpired in Libya. We are ready and waiting as if we will go at any second. If necessary, we will also go to repair the Benghazi Airport in conjunction with the Libya State Airports." Chairman of the Turkish Contractors Union in Libya, Barlas Turan explains that after the new administration is formulated, the Turkish committee will go to the country in order to determine the full situation.
