Popular fair opens for Istanbul's bookworms
One of the most anticipated events for bookworms in Istanbul, the 4th CNR Book Fair will be open from Feb. 24 to March 5 with a focus on the July 15 coup attempt, bringing together 300 publishing houses from 19 countries
Co-organized by Pozitif Fair Organizations and the Press and Publishing Association of Turkey, the fourth edition of the International CNR Book Fair will open its doors to bookworms on Feb. 24.The book fair, which will remain open for avid readers until March 5, will welcome 300 publishing houses from 19 countries, including Alfa, Martı, Can, Nesil, Doğan Kitap, Timaş, Ephesus, Epsilon, Tübitak, Profil, İnkılab, Beyaz Balina, İz, Kırmızı Kedi, Yeditepe, Ötüken, Yakamoz, Edam, Yapı Kredi Yayınları, İş Bankası Yayınları, Semerkand, Damla, Tezkire, İnsan, Diyanet, Sedir and Pegasus.For the last four years, the CNR Book Fair has managed to attract booklovers far and wide thanks to its convenient location that can be easily accessed with public transportation.Supported by the Culture and Tourism Ministry, the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of Natural Education, the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and the Istanbul Development Agency, the 4th CNR Book Fair is ready to host more than 1,000 events, such as conferences, book launches, autograph sessions, panel sessions, events geared for children and poetry readings.This year's guest of honor is veteran cartoonist Hasan Aycın, who stands out with his unique style that encourages his audience to think deeper. Aycın's works will be displayed at the book fair for cartoon lovers, who will get a chance to meet him at an autograph session.The theme of the 4th CNR Book Fair will be "July 15" and several organizations will take place in parallel with the general theme. "The July 15 Photography Exhibition," is expected to attract thousands of people. Panel sessions on the failed coup attempt, such as "July 15: Turkey's Longest Night," and "Hagia Sophia under the Light of July 15 Spirit," will be held.The target audience of the book fair will be teachers, students, publishers, book stores, librarians, translation agencies, journalists, writers, editors, publishing houses, author copyright agencies and readers. The book fair, which will take place at CNR Yeşilköy, covering 25,000-square-meters, hosted 338,187 visitors last year and expects to welcome more than 400,000 book lovers this year.
