Turkey's second-hand automotive market grew by 8.6 percent in the first 11 months of 2014, with more than 5 million vehicles.
According to data compiled by the Anadolu Agency from the Automotive Distributers' Association, 5,001,714 vehicles changed hands in Turkey's second-hand car market in the period between January and November 2014.
The second-hand car market saw an 8.6 percent increase compared to the same period in 2013, when 4,604 million cars were sold. The second-hand car and commercial vehicle market reached 4,583,528 vehicles with a 9.7-percent increase, while automobile sales took the lead with 3,445,606 sales and a share of 75.2 percent. It was followed by van sales with 813,233 sales and a share of 17.7 percent.
In the January-December period of 2014, a total of 149,000 trucks, 124,000 minibuses, 47,000 buses, 255,000 motorcycles and 162,000 tractors were sold. Sales hovered between 365,000 and 375,000 in the first three months of the year, but they exceeded 400,000 as of April. September was the most dynamic month for the second-hand automobile and commercial vehicle market, which saw 476,000 sales in single month.
