A passenger has been detained after allegedly trying to light a fire on a Chinese flight, according to local media Sunday.The airport in southern Guangzhou city said the passenger attempted to damage facilities on a Shenzhen Airlines flight as it was preparing to land at the airport at around 1 a.m. Sunday (18:00GMT Saturday), state news agency Xinhua reported.The Hong Kong-based South China cited Chinese media as saying that the man tried lighting a fire with petrol and a cigarette lighter on the flight, which had departed from Taizhou city, eastern Zhejiang province.He was immediately subdued by flight crew and other passengers, according to the airport, which issued an emergency response to evacuate 95 passengers and nine crewmembers from the plane once it landed.Two people sustained injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital.Photos on news websites showed a partially burnt passenger seat.An investigation into the case is ongoing.The incident is the latest in which alarm has been raised for flights to and from Chinese cities.In January, a Beijing-bound flight was forced to abort take off and return to the boarding gate in southwest Kunming city when passengers frustrated by snow-related delays quarreled with crew and opened the plane's emergency exits.The month before, travellers on board a flight to China's eastern Nanjing city were also reported to have thrown hot water and noodles on a Thai flight attendant, and threatened to blow up their plane after becoming enraged over seating arrangements.Earlier that year, Chinese state television broadcaster CCTV commissioned a TV "public service announcement" aimed at reminding people to be better behaved during their overseas trips.
