Almost 1500 people die of infectious diseases in China

Infectious diseases claimed almost 1500 lives in China in May, according to a report by the country's National Health and Family Planning Commission.
Xinhua news agency reported Wednesday that the report said a total of 949,748 cases of infectious disease were reported last month, of which 1,428 had resulted in death.
The Category C infectious diseases that killed 119 people included infectious diarrhea, foot-and-mouth disease, and mumps. Class B infectious diseases - such as Hepatitis, dysentery, rubella, tuberculosis and syphilis - killed 1,309.
Class A - the most serious category - includes plague and cholera, of which no casualties were reported.
